Peter Compernolle, who lives nearby, said the recent violence was disturbing.
“I think it’s a little terrifying. It’s a nice, quiet neighborhood, you know. My kids are running around all the time, it’s a little scary to hear there’s shootings,” Compernolle said. .
Compernolle said he believes the recent crime spike is not unique to his neighborhood.
“People are desperate. It seems like crime has gone up everywhere. I think a lot of people are desperate. It’s hard to blame them. I don’t justify it, but I think it’s hard,” said Compernolle.
Another man from Chicago was not so nice.
“I blame the mayor. Really,” said Richard Lee. “She’s tied the hands of the police so many times. I just think we need to get tougher on this crime.”
No one is in custody and area three detectives are investigating.
