Lake Shore Savings Bank unveiled the news “Michael E. Brunecz administrative building” in tribute to the former chairman of the board of directors, Michael E. Brunecz.
Lake Shore’s success as a mission-driven community banking institution is due to the leadership of its Board of Directors. Brunecz leaves a lasting legacy after serving Lake Shore as President from 1993 until his retirement in 2013, helping to guide the institution through its period of significant growth. Lake Shore President and CEO Daniel Reininga said “The effectiveness of the board of directors and the success of the bank have been greatly influenced by Mr. Brunecz’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the Lake Shore approach to”Put people first“By helping its employees, by energizing its employees, by respecting its shareholders and by serving its community”.
Brunecz, an avid golf and fishing enthusiast, said he was “Humbled by honor and shares this recognition with his 62-year-old wife, Cynthia”, with whom he has 10 children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Born in Cleveland, Brunecz moved to Chautauqua County with his family. A graduate of Jamestown Community College and Case Western University, in 1969 he became the owner of Office Concepts, a family-owned retail and wholesale office furniture business.
Brunecz said the region “Was a great place to raise a family”, it was therefore normal that he was joined by his family for the inauguration ceremony in Dunkirk. Also in attendance were Lake Shore Savings President and CEO Daniel Reininga; former Chairman of the Board, Mr. Gary Winger; the current Chairman of the Board, Mr. Kevin Sanvidge; as well as members of the Board of Directors and employees of Lake Shore.
