Lake View High is considered safe after a bomb threat

SAN ANGELO, TX – Lake View High School was evacuated Thursday morning after a bomb threat.

The following is a press release sent by SAISD on Tuesday, March 10, 2022:

San Angelo ISD and Lake View High School were notified of a bomb threat on campus and out of an abundance of caution the campus was evacuated.

District leaders and campus administrators immediately launched an investigation in conjunction with the San Angelo Police Department and took immediate action. The investigation is currently ongoing. Students and staff are safe.

We are asking parents/guardians to refrain from traveling to the Lake View High School campus as students have been redirected to Lincoln Middle School.

Due to this investigation and out of an abundance of caution, students at Lake View High School have been expelled for the day Thursday, March 10, 2022.

We take all matters of this nature seriously and will follow the procedures outlined in our Student Code of Conduct.

The safety of our students is our first priority. We encourage everyone to report threats of any kind to a district or school official, local law enforcement, or report the issue on our district StayAlert link on the SAISD website.

UPDATE March 10 12:30 p.m.

SAISD: SAPD and SAFD have confirmed that it is safe to enter the Lake View building after a precautionary evacuation.

Students can pick up their belongings from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. today.

UPDATE March 10 1 p.m.

As an update to the preventative evacuation at Lake View High School earlier today, March 10, 2022, San Angelo ISD has now been given a go-ahead by the San Angelo Police Department and the San Angelo Fire Department. San Angelo who determined there was no threat to the High School’s Lake View Campus.

This morning, Thursday March 10, 2022, San Angelo ISD and Lake View High School were notified of a bomb threat on the campus of Lakek View High School. Immediately, district leaders and campus administrators launched an investigation in conjunction with the San Angelo Police Department and San Angelo Fire Department, including room-to-room searches.

We value the collaboration with our local law enforcement and first responders. Due to the investigation and out of an abundance of caution, students and staff at Lake View High School have been evacuated as a precaution and dismissed for the day Thursday, March 10, 2022. Lake View High School will resume regular hours tomorrow, Friday, March 11, 2022. We take all matters of this nature seriously and will follow the procedures outlined in our Student Code of Conduct. The safety of our students is our first priority.
