One injured in multi-car crash on 79 South at Vail Lake Resort


TEMECULA, Calif. — Traffic on 79 South at Vail Oak Road — in Vail Lake Resort — was halted for more than two hours after a multiple-car crash blocked all lanes, the California Highway Patrol reported Tuesday.

At least one man was taken to Temecula Valley Hospital with minor injuries, according to CHP reports.

The California Highway Patrol has not issued any citations in the crash, and it is unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

The exact circumstances of the accident have not yet been revealed.

Just before 1 p.m., four cars collided in the area of ​​79 South and Vail Lake Resort at Vail Oak Road, according to CHP.

A white van, a white truck, a black Subaru Outback and a Lexus Tan collided in a chain reaction accident injuring at least one driver and rendering two of the cars undriveable according to CHP officer Russ Robertson.

A two-hour GIS alert was put in place as emergency vehicles and tow trucks headed for the scene on narrow roads through broken traffic.

Roads reopened at 2:45 p.m., Robertton said. Eastbound traffic remained heavy on 79 South from Woodchuck Road to past Vail Lake Resort. Westbound traffic was heavy between Crosley Truck Trail and Dripping Springs Campground.
