Opening of the entire Stoatin Brae course at Gull Lake View

The 18-hole Gull Lake View Golf Club & Resort’s new Stoatin Brae golf course is scheduled to open on May 15.

Twelve holes opened last September at the southwest Michigan resort, with a team from Renaissance Golf Design working to complete the full 18-hole course before opening this spring.

The new course was built on a former apple orchard and is the sixth course to open at Gull Lake View. Other resort amenities include the Stonehenge South course designed by Charles Scott and the Bedford Valley course designed by William Mitchell.

Architecturally, the course was created with input from a number of architects from Renaissance Golf Design, namely Eric Iverson, Brian Schneider, Don Placek and Brian Slawnik. Slawnik commented, “Working together on a project is nothing new for the four of us. We have been doing this for a long time.

“I believe we’ve built something very different for three markets, and unlike anything we’ve done before,” said Iverson. “We were given a very good pitch and we really tried to leave it alone as much as possible. Putting a golf course on this site will draw golfers to a really cool part of southwest Michigan.
