SHERIDAN — Classic cars filled the parking lot at Sheridan Memorial VFW Post 6390 last week for one night to draw attention to both the cars themselves and the post that housed them.
The event – the first of its kind at the Sheridan VFW Post – featured the Lake Shore Street Rods automobile club.
“The goal was just to bring attention to the Post and show off these great cars, to show what they’ve done. There’s a lot of hours and a lot of love that goes into these things,” said Brian Schneider, senior vice commander of Sheridan Memorial VFW Post 6390.
Tom Kwiatkowski, president of Lake Shore Street Rods, said the goal of the event was to raise awareness and bring attention to the Sheridan VFW Post.
“VFW posts are struggling in locations across the country. We just wanted to do our part to bring a great event here,” said Kwiatkowski.
The cruise also featured live music from Everette Lee and the Underground Stampede. Proceeds from the event benefit local veterans programs.
Kwiatkowski called Thursday’s event a success and is optimistic for another event like this in the future. The Lake Shore Street Rods already have strong ties in the community, as earlier this summer the club hosted the 50th annual Harbor Cruise at Point Gratiot in Dunkirk.
