Students Run LA is a nonprofit training marathon and free mentorship program. The organization, founded in 1986, typically has more than 3,200 student participants each year in the greater Los Angeles area. This season, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the total number of student and teacher volunteers is approximately 2,500 – with approximately 1,800 student – participants.

They had set their sights on performing in the annual Los Angeles Marathon which was originally scheduled for March of this year. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the marathon has now been postponed to a later date, possibly in the fall.

Runners who finished Saturday’s race received a medal and season uniform. They, including another group of students who ran at Lake Balboa early Sunday morning, will stay in training to run a socially distanced 26.2-mile race in March.
