Silver Lake general manager Luke Tonkin and Macmahon general manager Mick Finnegan both expressed their sympathy to the contractor’s family, friends and co-workers.

“Macmahon will provide support and guidance to the site team and family members,” a statement from Macmahon said.

“The competent authorities have been notified. Macmahon will provide further updates as appropriate. “

Ministry of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety director of mine safety Andrew Chaplyn said he had been informed of the death.

“The department has sent inspectors to the site who are working with Western Australia Police to determine the cause of death,” he said.

“DMIRS will not release further information at this time. “
