You know, just because Indiana is a landlocked state, a lot of people think it’s not a good place for a getaway. This is surprisingly incorrect; Indiana is full of amazing getaway spots, many of which are near or on a body of water. Who needs beaches when we have idyllic spots like Lake Michigan, Lake Monroe, and Lake Shafer to fill our days? Well, speaking of Lake Shafer, did you know there is a gorgeous a bed and breakfast style resort tucked away right on the shores? That’s right – it’s called The Lighthouse Lodge, and it’s a traveler’s dream come true. This Indiana resort town seems to have it all – check it out!
It’s open year-round, and it’s a lot more affordable than you probably think; overnight stays start at just $80, depending on which chalet you choose to stay in, and trust us – you’ll never want to leave.

The property’s amenities are almost too numerous to list; there is almost no way to get bored here. Whatever your interests, you’re sure to find something extraordinary at this resort-style bed and breakfast that will keep you coming back again and again.

If you’re traveling alone you’ll love snuggling up with a good book by the lake and reading in peace and quiet – of course on the weekends the lake is much more ‘awake’ so you’ll want to plan ahead. result. What kind of atmosphere are you looking for? Peace and quiet works best during the week, and actively engaging in shenanigans is best reserved for weekend stays (especially in the summer).

The resort is located just an hour and a half from Chicago and Indy, and we recommend staying more than one night. there is so much to do and see that it would be unfair to you if you don’t live it up!

Unwind with a book, catch up on social media, or watch a movie – the possibilities really are as limited as your imagination!

For more photos, policies and reservations, be sure to visit the official Lighthouse Lodge website.
